Born in Stoke-on-Trent, I now live high up in the beautiful wild moors of Saddleworth, Manchester. I spend my time writing, investigating strange tales and walking my three gorgeous chihuahuas.

My Books

I started my current journey as an Author and have written and published eight novels over two series with a new one on the way.

The Saddleworth Vampire Series is a six-book series which really started it all.

I had the idea of vampires attacking a northern village, and it all spiralled from there. I included my love of Brass Bands, ‘Carry On’ Films and real northern characters and from some reviews it ended up being a cross between ‘Brassed Off’ and ‘30 Days Of Night’. As an author I wanted to have real people dealing with a terrifying situation rather than some muscle bound ninjas. I have deliberately made most of my heroes older than the norm.

Dark Pennine Tales was set up to allow me to work on some of the many myths and legends that surround this area and initially was going to feature a whole new bunch of characters, but as most people loved the old gang I decided to keep them going as a sort of geriatric Mystery Inc.

There are two books so far in this series which are pretty self-contained but the larger story arc of some of the characters can be followed from Book One of the Saddleworth Vampire Series. From the perspective of an author I am constantly fascinated how the characters are growing as the books progress and I hope my readers are as well.

As I have said, I am writing Book Three of Dark Pennine Tales, but things have been a bit sidetracked with the other projects I am doing.

My Videos

This started as an experiment to see if we could actually do it and every video sort of pushes the boundaries of what we can produce. The first one was basically made to announce Hell and High Water and had a purple theme running through it in honour of the artwork.

The last one took over 2 weeks to produce, from finding strange locations, working out how to film werewolf movements to investigating conflicting stories about the events. Being a Fantasy Horror author is easy sometimes compared to the depth of research we have to go through for some of the video.

If I can sum my videos up I suppose they fall into three categories, scary stories and tales, ‘360’ tours of locations with some narration and finally a ‘360’ day out which has nothing to do with scary things but we think is a nice video.

How are we going to go forward with this side of my work? Honestly we don’t know, we enjoy creating them, but some are a lot of work. We have found out things we never knew existed and the stories are sometimes so good that they have a habit of forcing you to come up with some way to get the story told.

You can visit my YouTube Site here:

Facebook

I have a few pages that will be coming on Facebook soon, but my main
Facebook Pages are

Angela Blythe here and Dark Pennine Tales here

The Angela Blythe page is my main personal page so expect to see lots of posts that are random and not always scary related.

The Dark Pennine Tales page is a Facebook version of this blog, we will be posting links to the content we create, photos and news.

The blog will still be the place for the majority of our postings just because it allows us to post more details.

My Blog

I usually add more information about the videos, pictures and artwork on this blog. I try to keep everyone up to date with the news, but I also have Instagram and Twitter, which you can follow me on – the latest feeds are on this site.

There is so much more on the way. If you like Christmas, my planned videos for the Christmas season will blow you away and I make no apologies for my potential full Christmas overload 🙂

PodCasts

These are now live on Itunes, Spotify and Podbean

The aim is to do a Podcast once or twice a week. These will be updates and tales from our YouTube adventures but also we are running a special offer for all the aspiring writers out there.

The Dark Pennine Tales podcast is offering the chance to be featured on one of our future podcasts. We will read out short stories as part of the podcast and give you full credit for your work.

We are looking for original stories that are either scary, ghostly, creepy or all three!

The story has to be suitable for our general audience.

In terms of length we would be looking for something that fits on about 8 pages of A4 or less depending on the font size. In terms of word count its about 3000 words or less.

For more info drop an email to npb13@hotmail.com

As well as all this, we are intending to run 24 specially written scary short stories that you will be able to listen to in front of your fire while you sip your eggnog. It will be a scary, PodCast Advent Calender, my Christmas Gift to you.

Whatever brought you here, I hope that you find something interesting on the site for you.

Thanks for visiting

Angela
